Barbera is one of the classic red grape varieties of northern Italy, especially in Piedmont. It grows vigorously and produces generous yields, with tight clusters and thin-skinned berries that ripen reliably in warm, sunny conditions. The vine prefers moderate climates and well-drained soils, and it does not perform well in very cold winters. The wines are typically deep ruby in color with naturally high acidity and soft tannins, making them versatile, food-friendly, and enjoyed both in everyday bottles and more structured, barrel-aged styles.
