Aglianico is one of the most historic and distinctive grape varieties of Southern Italy. It thrives in warm, sunny climates and volcanic soils, particularly in Campania and Basilicata. The vine ripens late and requires a long, dry growing season to fully develop its deep flavors. It does not tolerate cooler climates or early winter frost. The wines are dark ruby in color with firm tannins and naturally high acidity, making them structured, age-worthy, and excellent companions to hearty foods.
