Petit Manseng

Petit Manseng

Petit Manseng is a high-quality white grape native to southwest France, most closely associated with Jurançon, where it produces both dry and lusciously sweet wines. The vine has naturally low to moderate vigor, yielding small quantities of very small, thick-skinned berries in loose, well-ventilated clusters—an architecture that favors extended hang time and natural concentration. It thrives in sunny, elevated sites, especially on steep, south-facing slopes with poor, rocky or sandy soils, and shows notable resistance to rot, allowing for late harvests and even passerillage (on-vine raisining).

Petit Manseng maintains high acidity even at elevated sugar levels, producing intensely aromatic wines with notes of tropical fruit, citrus oils, white flowers, spice, and honey. Its hallmark combination of richness and freshness supports a range of styles, from structured, textural dry wines to complex, long-lived sweet wines prized for their purity, tension, and concentration.
