Fiano
Fiano
Fiano is an ancient southern Italian white grape, most closely associated with Campania and especially the hills around Avellino. It is a moderately vigorous, low-yielding variety that forms small, thick-skinned berries in compact clusters, allowing it to handle heat and maintain concentration even in warm Mediterranean climates. The vine thrives in well-drained volcanic or limestone soils and ripens relatively late, developing rich flavors while preserving balanced acidity. Fiano wines range from pale straw to light gold, with naturally moderate acidity and a distinctive aromatic profile that often includes orchard fruit, citrus, honeyed tones, and subtle nutty or smoky notes. Styles span from fresh, mineral-driven expressions to fuller, textured bottlings capable of graceful aging.
